My steed for the day. Everyone should drive one of these at least once. Not fast, but the torque from the a big I6 turbodiesel is quite an experience. Verizon apparently put up a new tower. I have data here now so I can shitpost all day from the desert when I’m supposed to be working.

Yes, yes they are. Surprisingly nimble for their size as well.
I honestly have nearly as much fun driving this thing as I do my FiST.

In ‘99 I bought a brand new 2000 Ram 2500 4x4 with the Cummins. 5 speed stick. Miss that truck.

Hngh , I miss my family’s old 5.9L.

We had an ‘03 6-speed manual 3500 dually in our fleet that we recently traded in on a brand new one (auto). I like the new one but I do miss that older truck sometimes.

I was riding around in one of those for a few days, 4x4 dually with the 6 speed. Not bro’d out, still stock, and the sound and torque was addicting

Dad bought a 1996 12v/5MT so he could tow the 18 ft bass boat behind the 33 ft fifth wheel. That truck was a monster; I’d kill for another one

White diesel truck, ranch hand brush guard, Texas, what did you join the oil field?

I am sitting on top of one of those engines right now. Not a huge fan of Dodge but the Cummins is immortal. This one has 23000 hours on it and never has it failed me.

No we have a remote test site out on the border near Bracketville. Still a mechanical engineer based in SA. I do a mix of desk, lab, and field work.

Yeah Im not a fan of rolling coal but I love the sound of a good diesel pull.

Now isn’t the time to join the oil field anyways, I was more commenting on how that looks like every truck I saw in the oil field.

I had an 01 with the 6 speed stick. I bought it used, body was beat to hell, but it ran like a striped ape. I kinda miss that crapbox sometimes.

Awesome truck. As you say, everyone should drive one. I had an ‘01 with a 6 speed stick for a while, the torque was astounding. It was beat to hell but it ran like stink, I still miss the crapbox every now and then.
Also, what industry do you work in? I saw you mention you’re an ME (like me) but I’m trying to find a way to get out from behind the desk and back into the lab/testing/shop/etc.

I am on my second Cummins, love my Ram Trucks and all the torques. Both have been 4x4 Dually. I had a 1999 and currently have a 2014.

Used to have one as a work truck. When that turbo hits full spool look the fack out!

Yep. Used to be whole fleets of them at the hotel we stay at in Uvalde. Now it’s just one or two plus a few Time Warner Cable contractors.

I think the current gen is still the best looking HD out there even with the new Chevy and Ford designs that have come out much more recently.

I completely agree. It is my hauling vehicle, with I tow weekly and it is also my daily driver. Best looking and a comfortable place to be.

every once in a while i play outrun with the diesels.........so long as you can leave them before they spool up, you got them whooped. if they manage to spool up though, its a tight race. they are downright impressive for trucks their size...........

Yeah the trans in this one has started a slow death spiral.

typical for that gen for some reason.
